  • 150 grams softened butter
  • 150 grams sugar
  • 150 grams dark chocolate, melted
  • 5 medium egg yolks plus 5 egg white, separated
  • 150 grams baking flour

    Step 1
  • Preheat the oven to 180ºC (360ºF). Lightly grease a 25-cm (10-in) heart-shape cake pan and line the base with baking paper, if you like.
  • Step 2
  • Beat the butter and sugar together using an electric mixer, until pale and creamy. Beat in the egg yolk, one at a time, until wellcombined. Pour in the chocolate, and mix in flour, stirring thoroughly until well incorporated.
  • Step 3
  • Using again an electric mixer, whip the egg whites until soft peaks form. Fold egg white cream into the egg chocolate mixture, whisking continously until well blended.
  • Step 4
  • Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 60 minutes, until golden brown, until the center is firm to touch and a skewer comes out clean when tested. Allow to cool in the pan for 20 minutes. Remove from the pan and place on a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Step 5
  • Dust heavily with icing sugar. Serve, share and enjoy!
