  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 medium sweet onion
  • 1 medium green apple
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 8 oz whole wheat linguine
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

How to Make Apple Braised Chicken

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Apple Braised Chicken in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In a large, heavy-bottomed skillet, warm oil over high heat.
  • Step 2
  • Toss chicken with flour in a medium bowl, patting off excess.
  • Step 3
  • Place chicken in skillet and brown well on both sides. Remove chicken from pan and set aside.
  • Step 4
  • Reduce stove temperature to low and add the onion (cut in long strips) to the skillet. Saute, stirring often until onion is tender and lightly browned.
  • Step 5
  • Stir in cider, broth, salt, and ginger. Place chicken back in the pan.
  • Step 6
  • Bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 25 minutes. Add apple slices and cook until apples begin to soften (about 2 minutes).
  • Step 7
  • While the chicken simmers, fill a pot with water for the pasta. Add cinnamon and bring to a boil. Cook and strain pasta.
  • Step 8
  • Plate the linguine. Use tongs to transfer chicken, onion, and apples on top of the pasta
  • Step 9
  • Leave the remaining sauce on medium heat to thicken for about 2 minutes. Pour over chicken.
