Ingredients: Award Winning Chili

  • 1 lb ground beef or ground round
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped
  • 1 large yellow onion, chopped
  • 40 oz can of Brooks mild chili beans
  • 22 oz can of Brooks hot chili beans
  • 14 1/2 oz can of Stewed tomatoes (with celery, peppers, & cumin OR with mexican spices)
  • 1 packages Brooks mild chili seasoning
  • 1 garlic salt
  • 1 onion powder
  • 1 black pepper
  • pinch ground red pepper
  • pinch ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 3 tbsp sugar

How to Make Award Winning Chili

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Award Winning Chili in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In Dutch oven, brown ground beef and season with garlic salt, onion powder, & pepper
  • Step 2
  • Drain grease and put beef back in Dutch oven.
  • Step 3
  • In a medium size bowl, add stewed tomatoes (cut up in small pieces). Then add chopped green pepper and chopped onion. Mix together.
  • Step 4
  • Pour the stewed tomatoes/onion/green pepper in Dutch oven with the ground beef.
  • Step 5
  • Add the package of Brooks Mild chili seasoning and mix together.
  • Step 6
  • Before adding both cans of Brooks chili beans, dump out some of the sauce but not all.
  • Step 7
  • Season again with garlic salt, onion powder, and pepper. Then add the chili powder, ground red pepper, ground cayenne pepper, and sugar.
  • Step 8
  • Mix well.
  • Step 9
  • Bring to a boil and let simmer on low for 3 hours.
