  • Chicken
  • 4 lb Roasting chicken
  • Herb/Spice rub
  • 2 tbsp dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp dried basil
  • 2 tbsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Basting fluid/gravy
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 tsp flour

How to Make Baked herb chicken

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Baked herb chicken in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • Step 2
  • Mix together thyme, basil, rosemary, garlic, salt, pepper and oil then with a fork stir until a paste is formed. Set aside.
  • Step 3
  • Slice onion and place in 13x9 baking pan. In a seperate bowl add flour to water stirring with a fork until all the lumps disappear then add to pan.
  • Step 4
  • Pat dry chicken, then with poultry shears or a sharp knife remove the backbone. Press flat so that the cavity is now facing down
  • Step 5
  • Apply paste to both sides of the chicken then place cut side down over the onions. Cover tightly with foil and place in the oven for 40mins. basting every 20mins.
  • Step 6
  • Lower the temperature to 325° remove the foil and place under the broiler for 10mins. checking constantly until browned.
