Ingredients: Baklava

  • 1 lb Chopped Nuts
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 16 oz package Phyllo Dough
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup Honey

How to Make Baklava

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make Baklava in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter the bottom and sides of a 9x13 inch pan.
  • Step 2
  • Chop nuts and toss with cinnamon. Unroll Phyllo dough. Cut whole stack to fit pan. Cover Phyllo dough with a damp cloth. Place 2 sheets of dough in pan, butter thoroughly. Repeat until you have 8 sheets layered. Sprinkle 2-3 tablespoons of nut mixture on too. Top with 2 sheets of dough, butter, nut, layering as you go. The top layer should be about 6-8 sheets deep.
  • Step 3
  • Using large knife, cut into diamond or square shapes. Bake for 50 mins until Baklava is golden and crispy.
  • Step 4
  • Make sauce while Baklava is baking. Boil sugar and water until sugar is melted. Add vanilla and honey. Simmer for 20 mins.
  • Step 5
  • Remove Baklava from oven and immediately spoon sauce over it. Let cool. Serve in cupcake papers. Freezes well. Leave uncovered or it will get soggy.
