  • 1 Roaster chicken 4-5 lbs
  • 1 can 16 ounce beer
  • 1 rub of your choice
  • 1 garlic cloves to put in beer can.
  • 1 beer can roaster and roasting pan

How to Make Beer can chicken

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Beer can chicken in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Rinse chicken and pat dry. Remove giblets.
  • Step 2
  • Use rub liberally. Under and over skin. Wrap and refrigerate for as little as 1 hour or overnight.
  • Step 3
  • Preheat grill for indirect heat. 300-350 degrees.
  • Step 4
  • Use or discard 1/2 of beer. Insert garlic or additional spices or rub in beer can. Increase size of hole in top of can and mount chicken.
  • Step 5
  • Grill for 60-90 minutes. Check for internal temp of 175°F. I used a smokebox, but it isn't necessary.
  • Step 6
  • Remove from grill and rest 10-15 mintues before carving and serving.
