  • Black Bean Patties
  • 15 1/2 oz can of black beans, rinsed
  • 3 clove fresh garlic
  • 8 each jalapeño slices
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp cilantro
  • pinch ground red pepper (cayenne)
  • pinch red pepper flakes
  • dash salt
  • dash ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 4 tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
  • 4 slice pepper jack cheese
  • Avocado Spread
  • 1 each Avocado
  • 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • Sammich & Fixins
  • 8 each bread slices
  • 4 tomato slice
  • 4 leaf of lettuce
  • 8 slice of onion
  • 4 dollop of salsa

How to Make Black Bean & Avocado Burgers

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 14 steps you must follow to make Black Bean & Avocado Burgers in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • You will need:

  • Rinse black beans and split half into a large mixing bowl.
  • Step 3
  • For the second half of black beans- crush using a mortar & pestle or food processor.
  • Step 4
  • Add to the mixing bowl.
  • Step 5
  • Crush the garlic cloves and red pepper flakes and add to mixing bowl
  • Step 6
  • Crush the jalapeño slices and add to mixing bowl.
  • Step 7
  • Now add the bread crumbs, eggs, ground red pepper, onion powder, salt, black pepper, cilantro, and lemon juice to the mixing bowl.
  • Step 8
  • Preheat skillet on low-medium heat and add olive oil.
  • Step 9
  • Mix patty mixture well until you have a smooth and pliable consistency.
  • Step 10
  • Form into 4 equal and flat patties.
  • Step 11
  • Cook patties for 5 minutes on one side. Then flip and cook for 4 minutes on the other side. Flip back over and add pepper jack cheese, cover, and melt. Now remove from heat.
  • Step 12
  • While the patties are cooking, make your Avocado spread. Mush the avocado, add the lemon juice and mayonnaise and mix well.
  • Step 13
  • Assemble the sandwich. Spread a thin layer of Avocado Spread on 2 bread slice, place your patty, top with tomato slice, leaf of lettuce, and 2-slice of onion. Add a dollop of Salsa for a nice kick!
  • Step 14
  • Repeat this with the rest of the patties until complete. Serve and enjoy!
