Ingredients: Blueberry Crisp

  • 3 cups fresh blueberries, not frozen
  • 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice (not concentrate), if you don't have lemon juice mix 1+1/2 tablespoons of orange juice with 1/2 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal - either quick-cooked or rolled oats
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup COLD butter
  • Optional - half-and-half, light cream, frozen yogurt or ice cream

How to Make Blueberry Crisp

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 4 steps you must follow to make Blueberry Crisp in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 375°F
  • Step 2
  • Place blueberries in a 2 quart square baking dish. Sprinkle with lemon juice, or the orange juice/white vinegar combination.
  • Step 3
  • In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon and salt. Using a pastry blender (or two knives) cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. It's ok towards the end of blending to use your hands to break down the butter further. Only be careful that the heat from your hands doesn't make the butter too soft. Sprinkle evenly over blueberries.
  • Step 4
  • Bake in 375°F oven for 25-30 until the top is golden brown and berries are oozing their juice.
