  • rolls
  • 8 oz skim milk, warmed to 110 degrees
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp rapid rise yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/3 cup greek plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, room temperature
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 beaten egg used for egg wash on rolls before baking
  • 1 amount of kosher or sea salt to sprinkle on egg wash

How to Make Bosnian Crescent Rolls

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 16 steps you must follow to make Bosnian Crescent Rolls in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Add yeast and sugar to warmed milk, stir and set aside. Mixture should become foamy after several minutes. This means yeast is active.
  • Step 2
  • In large mixing bowl with dough hooks, add one egg, oil,yogurt and butter. Mix.
  • Step 3
  • Add in foamy yeast mixture.
  • Step 4
  • With mixer on low, add flour, 1/2 cup at a time. Also add in 2 teaspoons of salt.
  • Step 5
  • Add flour until a soft dough ball forms. You may use more or less of flour called for.
  • Step 6
  • Knead for 5 minutes.
  • Step 7
  • Place dough covered with a kitchen towel in warm place and let rest for 1 hour.
  • Step 8
  • Preheat oven to 380°F.
  • Step 9
  • On lightly floured surface, divide dough into 16 equal portions.
  • Step 10
  • Take each portion and roll out to about a 9" by 5" oval.
  • Step 11
  • Fold down top of oval and roll like you would a crescent roll.
  • Step 12
  • Repeat for all portions.
  • Step 13
  • Place each roll on lightly greased baking tray. Cover and let rise 15 minutes.
  • Step 14
  • Before baking, take egg, beat and brush egg wash over each roll. Sprinkle each roll with sea or kosher salt.
  • Step 15
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
