Ingredients: BOU GOU (caribou goulash)

  • 1 lb ground caribou or steak cut in cubes
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1 small can mushrooms, drained
  • 3 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 large can of Italian style stewed tomatoes, drained
  • 1 salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 15 oz. cans of tomatoe sauce
  • 1 small can tomatoe paste
  • 1/2 tsp ground oregano
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp basil leaves
  • 1 22oz bag of elbow macaroni noodles

How to Make BOU GOU (caribou goulash)

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make BOU GOU (caribou goulash) in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • brown caribou burger or cubes in a little oil in a skillet
  • Step 2
  • drain any grease
  • Step 3
  • add onions, mushrooms, garlic, salt & pepper and cook for 15 to 30 minutes on medium heat until the ingredients are cooked in to the meat.
  • Step 4
  • in a 2 quart sauce pan, mix stewed tomatoes, tomatoe sauce, tomatoe paste, oregano, bay leaves, and the meat mixture.
  • Step 5
  • mix thoroughly and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours on low heat.
  • Step 6
  • boil noodles until done
  • Step 7
  • rinse cooked noodles thoroughly with hot water.
  • Step 8
  • mix meat mixture with noodles and stir.
  • Step 9
  • enjoy your Bou Gou with some good garlic toast!
