Ingredients: Brazilian style sfihas

  • 400 grams strong flour
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 cup tepid water
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sunflower oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • For the filling:
  • 300 grams minced meat
  • 1 tbs salt
  • to taste Black pepper
  • to taste Spring onion
  • to taste parsley
  • to taste mint
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes cut into cubes
  • Juice of one lime

How to Make Brazilian style sfihas

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 4 steps you must follow to make Brazilian style sfihas in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Place dry ingredients in a bowl for the dough. Add wet ingredients and knead until elastic and smooth. Leave it to rise for 1.5 hour.
  • Step 2
  • Meanwhile, prepare the filling placing the minced meat in a bowl and adding all the other ingredients, mixing well by hand. Transfer this mix to a sieve so the juices of the meat and tomato can drain.
  • Step 3
  • After the dough has risen knead again to eliminate any excess of air bubbles. Grab a small portion (approximately 35 grams) and roughly shape it into a circle. Put one tsp of the filling in the middle of this piece of dough and joint the borders so that the resulting shape is a triangle shape. Repeat this procedure with the rest of the dough, placing it in a floured tin (about 2 cm space in between each).
  • Step 4
  • Beat an egg and pass it over each sfiha with a brush for a nice shiny gloss. Bake for 25-30 min at 180 degrees Celsius and... Enjoy!
