  • 300 grams pasta (fusilli is good, i used penne)
  • 3 piece smoked streaky bacon
  • 1 broccoli head
  • 3 anchovy fillets
  • 2 clove garlic
  • 1 1/2 tbsp double cream
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tbsp double cream

How to Make Broccoli Pasta

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 11 steps you must follow to make Broccoli Pasta in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Bring a large, heavily salted pan of water to a rolling boil
  • Step 2
  • Chop the head of broccoli into large chunks. Peel the stalk with a speed peeler and chop this too (into slices)
  • Step 3
  • Add the broccoli to the water and set a timer for 4 minutes
  • Step 4
  • Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and add the (chopped bacon)
  • Step 5
  • Fry until the timer beeps. Add 1 more minute to the timer and add the garlic and anchovies to the bacon
  • Step 6
  • Cook for the remaining minute then using a slotted spoon transfer the broccoli to the frying pan.
  • Step 7
  • Add the pasta to the water and cook for 2 mins less than the lowest time shown on the packet
  • Step 8
  • Meanwhile cook the broccoli in the pan, tossing and breaking it up so that it becomes like a sauce. Add a ladle or more of pasta water to allow help this
  • Step 9
  • Just before the pasta time is up, add the cream and cook together well with the broccoli
  • Step 10
  • When the pasta is 2 minutes from cooked, add to the pan and cook with the sauce to your desired level of firmness, add plenty of pasta water to help keep the pasta light and loose. It can drink a lot!
  • Step 11
  • Add the extra virgin olive oil, mix together and serve
