  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 pinch cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda

    Step 1
  • Place popped popping corn in a large roasting pan.
  • Step 2
  • In a heavy saucepan stir together sugars,, butter, corn syrup and cream of tartar.
  • Step 3
  • Bring to boil and boil for 5 minutes without stirring.
  • Step 4
  • Remove from heat, add baking soda and stir well.
  • Step 5
  • Pour sugar mixture over popcorn and mix to coat well.
  • Step 6
  • Bake in 200°F. oven for one hour, stirring every 10 minutes.

  • Let cool, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 8
  • Store in airtight container.
  • Step 9
  • Makes 20 cups, and disappears quickly!
