Ingredients: Celery & Carrot Kimpira Stir-fry

  • 2 stalks celery with leaves
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 dried red chili (if you want spicy flavor)
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil (or veg. oil)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp mirin/sweet cooking sake
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 handful katsuobushi/bonito flakes for dashi (Okay to leave out)

How to Make Celery & Carrot Kimpira Stir-fry

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Celery & Carrot Kimpira Stir-fry in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Slice the celery stalks into 1 cm diagonal pieces. Mince the leaves and set aside. Cut the carrot into thin matchsticks.
  • Step 2
  • Heat oil in a frying pan. Add the celery stalks and carrots. Stir fry for a few minutes on medium until the celery and carrots are starting to get a little softer.
  • Step 3
  • Add the sugar, mirin, soy sauce and salt. Keep stir frying until almost all of the liquid evaporates.
  • Step 4
  • Add the chopped up celery leaves and stir fry for another 1 - 2 minutes.
  • Step 5
  • Lastly put in a handful of katsuobushi (if you have it), mix and it's done 〜♪
  • Step 6
  • Enjoy! Sometimes I like to put some sesame seeds on top too ^^
