  • 6 cup flour
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 packages instant yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tbsp vegetable or corn oil
  • 2 cup water (100 degrees)

How to Make Challah Bread

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Challah Bread in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Add flour, salt, sugar & yeast in to a mixing tub. Mix up dry ingredients. Make a well and add
  • Step 2
  • Add eggs, oil and water, mix well
  • Step 3
  • Knead to smooth and elastic. Add more flour as necessary. You may want to pour out and knead on a floured board.
  • Step 4
  • Work dough, should be slightly tacky. Rise in oiled bowl until doubled (about two hours.)
  • Step 5
  • Deflate, divide for two loaf and shape as desired. Rise again until doubled.
  • Step 6
  • Bake in a 400°F oven for approximately 30-minutes. Center of bread should be around 196-200 degrees.
  • Step 7
  • Don't forget to brush loaf with egg wash (1 egg - small amount of water) and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds - make it pretty.
