  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 green pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cup rice
  • 6 slice bacon
  • 1 packages smoked sausage
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 cup water

How to Make Charleston Red Rice

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 8 steps you must follow to make Charleston Red Rice in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Step 2
  • Fry bacon. Remove from pan and set on paper towels to dry.
  • Step 3
  • Saute onions and peppers in bacon grease.
  • Step 4
  • Add tomato paste, water, sugar, and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 5
  • Cook uncovered slowly about 5 minutes.
  • Step 6
  • Add rice and cook another 5 minutes until bubbly.
  • Step 7
  • Pour into 13x9 Pyrex baking dish. Add sausage and the crumble bacon into the mixture. Mix well.
  • Step 8
  • Cover and bake 35 to 45 minutes.
