Ingredients: Chicago Style Sausage & Peppers

  • 1 lb Quality Italian Sausage
  • 3 Garlic cloves, pressed
  • 1 each Red, Yellow and Green Bell Pepper, cut into vertical strips
  • 2 Sweet Onions, sliced
  • 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive oil
  • 24 oz Can of Diced Tomatoes with Basil, Garlic & Oregano
  • 3 pinch Crushed Red Pepper & Oregano
  • 1 dash Salt & Fresh Cracked Pepper

How to Make Chicago Style Sausage & Peppers

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 10 steps you must follow to make Chicago Style Sausage & Peppers in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 400°
  • Step 2
  • Poke each Sausage with a Fork 4-5 times
  • Step 3
  • Heat a Duch Oven Pot or a 4 quart pot with Lid that can go in the oven over medium/low heat. Add Sausage and cook them until there nice and brown all over. Remove Sausage from pot and set aside. Sausage will finish cooking in the oven
  • Step 4
  • Add Olive oil to pot then Onions. Season with Salt & Sauté until translucent
  • Step 5
  • Add Garlic & Diced Tomatoes. Season with Salt & Fresh Cracked Pepper
  • Step 6
  • Add Crushed Red Pepper, Oregano & All 3 Bell Peppers tossing them around until they're wilted
  • Step 7
  • Slice Sausage into Thirds & Add back in pot bring to a boil and Simmer for 10mins then put the pot in the oven
  • Step 8
  • Cook until most of the liquid has evaporated and peppers are tender about 30-40mins
  • Step 9
  • Serve on a plate, Have it with Pasta, Rice or Stuff it in a Sandwich Roll with Cheese! ;)
  • Step 10
