  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tbsp Coriander
  • 1 each Clove
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 28 oz Canned whole tomatoes
  • 32 oz Canned kidney beans

How to Make Chili

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Chili in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Combine butter and olive oil in a sauce pot over medium low.
  • Step 2
  • Slice onion and add to the pot. Stirring periodically, cook the onion to a very light caramel.
  • Step 3
  • Meanwhile, heat spices gently in a pan, just until fragrant, then grind finely and stir into caramelized onions to toast gently just before adding ground beef.
  • Step 4
  • Add ground beef. Stir over medium heat until browned.
  • Step 5
  • Add canned tomatoes. Simmer gently for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 6
  • Drain and rinse kidney beans and add them to the pot. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
  • Step 7
  • Season with salt and pepper and serve, ideally with a big chunk of fresh cornbread.
