Ingredients: Chili

  • 1 lb ground meat (beef, turkey, venison)
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 jalapeƱo chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can tomato sauce (28 oz)
  • 1 can petite diced tomatos (15 oz)
  • 1 can red kidney beans, drained & rinsed
  • 1 can pinto beans, drained & rinsed
  • 1 1/2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne or to taste

How to Make Chili

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 8 steps you must follow to make Chili in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Brown meat in pot or dutch oven Strain fat and set of to side in a bowl
  • Step 2
  • Add 1 tbsp olive oil to pan and cook pepper, jalapeno, onion, and garlic until soft about 6 minutes
  • Step 3
  • Add seasoning to peppers and onions. Stir and cook for a few minutes.
  • Step 4
  • If using a crockpot - add meat, peppers, onions, beans, tomatos, and tomato sauce to slow cooker. Mix together.
  • Step 5
  • Set on high for 4 hours or low 6-8 hours.
  • Step 6
  • If making this stove top - add meat, drained beans, canned tomato, and tomato sauce.
  • Step 7
  • Bring to a boil, then cover and lower to a simmer for 1.5-2 hours
  • Step 8
  • Serve with shredded cheese, sour cream, scallions, or whatever you prefer. Enjoy!
