  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup near boiling water
  • 2 scallions (chopped)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 oil

    Step 1
  • Dissolve salt in warm water. Put flour in a bowl. Add water.
  • Step 2
  • With a fork, kneed the dough until it becomes a ball. Let sit for 30 minutes.
  • Step 3
  • Chop scallions and set aside.
  • Step 4
  • When dough is set, divide into 4 equal portions.
  • Step 5
  • Put flour on surface and roll out one portion of the dough and sprinkle scallion, salt and Chinese five-spice powder and roll back into a ball. Then flatten it back into a pancake about a quarter inch thick. Repeat for the remaining portion.
  • Step 6
  • In a skillet, over medium - high heat, add oil until hot. Add pancake and fry on each side for about a minute.
  • Step 7
  • Let cool and cut into slices and serve with a chili soy sauce.
