  • Cookie dough
  • 2 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • Topping
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

  • preheat oven to 400°

  • in first small bowl.. using topping ingredients... mix both well and set aside.
  • Step 3
  • cookie: in another medium sized bowl.. sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. set aside.

  • in another medium sized bowl cream together the butter and the shortening.
  • Step 5
  • gradually add the sugar to the butter mix stopping to scrape down sides before each addition. continue until u have no sugar left.

  • add eggs one at a time,.beating well after each egg is added.
  • Step 7
  • now add vanilla and beat well again.
  • Step 8
  • add half the flour and mix well. add second half of the flour and mix well again.
  • Step 9
  • stir in chocolate chips.
  • Step 10
  • prepare cookie sheets by lightly greasing them.
  • Step 11
  • take your cinnamon sugar mix and sprinkle a small amount on the cookie sheet only where the cookies are gonna go. see photo..
  • Step 12
  • place cookie dough on top of where you put the cinnamon mix. about a large teaspoon.
  • Step 13
  • sprinkle more cinnamon mix on top of the cookie.
  • Step 14
  • bake for about 11 minutes or until golden around the edges.
  • Step 15
  • cool on wire rack.
  • Step 16
  • serve

  • hint.. it won't take on all of the cinnamon sugar you put on the bottom but it grabs the perfect amount..
  • Step 18
  • hint.. do not over cook or the cinnamon mix on the bottom will burn.
  • Step 19
  • makes about 35 cookies.
