Ingredients: Chocolate Mousse

  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 oz (4 squares) unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 tbsp strong brewed coffee
  • 3 egg whites
  • 4 oz whipped topping

How to Make Chocolate Mousse

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make Chocolate Mousse in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In a small saucepan, combine 3/4 cup sugar & water. Bring to a simmer, stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat.
  • Step 2
  • Add the chocolate. Whisk until mixture is completely melted & smooth. Whisk in coffee. Pour in large bowl & set aside.
  • Step 3
  • In medium mixing bowl, using an electric mixer set on high speed, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in remaining sugar until stiff, but not dry, peaks form.
  • Step 4
  • Whisk 1/4 of beaten egg whites into chocolate mixture. Fold in remaining whites, then the whipped topping.
  • Step 5
  • Pour mousse into dessert dishes. Cover with plastic wrap & chill for at least 4 hrs. Can garnish with additional whipped topping, berries, or walnuts, if desired.
