Ingredients: Chow Chow

  • 1 head Cabbage
  • 1 large Yellow onion
  • 2 Cucumbers
  • 6 medium Green tomatoes
  • 3 pints Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 1/2 cup White sugar

How to Make Chow Chow

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Chow Chow in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Chop up all vegetables (doesn't have to be very finely chopped but just a tad bit bigger)
  • Step 2
  • Put veggies in large pot and add vinegar and sugar
  • Step 3
  • Turn on heat and bring to boil, cook on medium for 20 minutes (start time when it starts to boil)
  • Step 4
  • Jars should be in a water bath that is hot along with lids, take jars out each at a time and fill to first ring
  • Step 5
  • Wipe off rim of jar and place hot lid and ring on top and screw tight and place on dry towel on counter
  • Step 6
  • Wait until all lids have sealed and made a pop sound then store, if jar did not seal it has to be refrigerated
  • Step 7
  • Makes around 10 pint sized jars
