  • 200 g or 6-7 oz. cod or other white fish
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed and cut in half
  • 1/2 onion
  • 3 small potatoes or 1 large
  • 1/4 cup white wine
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme or 1/2 dry
  • 1 cup water
  • to taste Salt & pepper,
  • 2 Tbsp chopped parsley
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil or butter

How to Make Chunky Cod and Potato Soup

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 8 steps you must follow to make Chunky Cod and Potato Soup in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Prep the ingredients. Peel and slice the potatoes, cut onions into thin slices and chop the parsley. Peel and crush the garlic. Cut the cod into bite-sized chunks.
  • Step 2
  • In a medium pot, heat the oil or butter on medium. Add the garlic and lightly brown.
  • Step 3
  • Add the sliced onion and sauté until very soft.
  • Step 4
  • Next add the sliced potatoes, cod, thyme and white wine. Bring the wine to a boil for 1-2 minutes.
  • Step 5
  • Add about 1 cup of water or enough to cover all ingredients.
  • Step 6
  • Bring to a boil again and skim off any of the foamy stuff that comes up.
  • Step 7
  • Turn heat to low and cover the pot tightly. Simmer for 15 minutes, until potatoes are soft.
  • Step 8
  • Once everything is cooked, add salt and pepper to taste, and stir in the chopped parsley. Bon appetit!
