  • 3 Dried shiitake mushrooms

  • 300 ml Dashi soup stock (water used to hydrate the shiitake mushrooms)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ★ Soy sauce
  • 2 1/2 tbsp ★ Sugar
  • 1 pack Bonito flakes
  • 1 tsp Dashi stock granules
  • 1 Sesame oil

How to Make Classic Japanese Okara Dish

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 4 steps you must follow to make Classic Japanese Okara Dish in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Hydrate and thinly slice the shiitake mushrooms. Julienne the carrot into 3 cm long pieces. Slice the green onions diagonally.
  • Step 2
  • Pour some sesame oil into a pan. Stir-fry the carrots and the shiitake mushrooms. Add the okara and cook briefly. Pour in the dashi soup stock.
  • Step 3
  • Add the ★ seasonings and the soup stock granules. Simmer until the water is completely reduced (about 15 minutes).
  • Step 4
  • To finish, add the green onions and the bonito flakes. Simmer briefly.
