  • 1/2 gallon Milk
  • 6 tsp vinegar
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

How to Make Cottage Cheese

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 8 steps you must follow to make Cottage Cheese in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Bring milk to simmer.
  • Step 2
  • Remove from heat.
  • Step 3
  • Add vinegar. Stir. Let sit for 15 - 20 minutes.
  • Step 4
  • Use a cheesecloth or fine colander to strain the curd. (liquid is called whey fyi)
  • Step 5
  • Rinse curd with water. Try to remove remaining moisture.
  • Step 6
  • Place into a bowl. Add heavy cream.
  • Step 7
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Step 8
  • NOTE: the curd will absorb the heavy cream. So make add much as you need.
