  • 1 lb ground sausage ( I also add 1/2 sausage, thats my prefrence though.I love tennessee pride, some use Jimmy dean's)
  • 1 chopped green onion
  • 2 cup shredded cheese (your preference)
  • 6 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 (2 3/5 ounce) package country gravy mix
  • 6 slice bread (french loaf works best!), cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (optional)
  • 1 paprika to taste & also add color.. (Optional)

How to Make Country breakfast casserole

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Country breakfast casserole in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 325°F (165 degrees C). Grease an 11x8 baking dish.
  • Step 2
  • Brown sausage in large skillet; drain fat.
  • Step 3
  • Combine sausage with green onion and spread evenly across the bottom of the baking dish. Top with the shredded cheese.
  • Step 4
  • In medium bowl wisk together eggs, water, milk, and gravy mix; add to the baking dish.
  • Step 5
  • Arrange bread squares on top. If desired Drizzle melted butter over bread and sprinkle with paprika.
  • Step 6
  • Bake 40 minutes in the oven, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Set aside 10 minutes before serving.
