  • 1 lb sausage (mild or hot)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium green pepper, choopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can whole tomatoes including juice, chopped
  • 2 (16 oz) cans red kidney beans, drained
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup water or substitute with beer

How to Make Country Chili

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 3 steps you must follow to make Country Chili in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Cook sausage, ground beef, onion, green pepper, and garlic in large soup pot or Dutch oven until sausage is browned and vegetables are tender; drain.
  • Step 2
  • Stir in tomatoes, beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, cayenne pepper, and water or beer.
  • Step 3
  • Cover and simmer about 1 hour.
