  • 1 packages unbaked pie crust
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • to taste salt & pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 medium yellow onions, sliced
  • 8 slice bacon, chopped
  • 2 cup grated cheddar
  • variation
  • 2 box sliced white mushrooms
  • 1 can quartered artichoke hearts
  • 2 cup shredded swiss cheese

How to Make Cowboy Quiche

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 8 steps you must follow to make Cowboy Quiche in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Step 2
  • Fry sliced onions in butter over medium low heat for 15-20 minutes maybe longer, stirring occasionally, until onions are deep golden brown. Set aside to cool.
  • Step 3
  • Fry chopped bacon until chewy but not crisp. Set aside to cool.
  • Step 4
  • Roll out pie crust and press into tart pan or deep dish pie pan.
  • Step 5
  • Whip eggs, cream, salt and pepper in a large bowl, then mix in onions, bacon and cheese. Pour mixture into pie crust.
  • Step 6
  • Place pan on a rimmed baking sheet, cover lightly with foil and continue baking for 10-15 minutes or until quiche is set and crust is golden brown. It will be slightly loose.
  • Step 7
  • Remove from oven and allow to sit for 10-15 minutes until filling completely set. Cut with sharp serrated knife and serve.
  • Step 8
  • For the variation: Saute the mushrooms and artichokes in the leftover bacon grease after frying chopped bacon then drain. Add to the egg mixture with swiss cheese, caramelized onions and bacon and bake similarly until filling almost completely set.
