  • 1 lb red kidney beans
  • 7 cup water
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 2 clove garlic
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tbsp dried parsley flakes
  • 1 tsp creole seasoning
  • 1 lb beef sausage
  • 2 cup rice
  • 4 cup water
  • 2 tsp chicken base

How to Make Crockpot Red Beans & Rice

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Crockpot Red Beans & Rice in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Fill crockpot with 7 cups water & add kidney beans
  • Step 2
  • chop: celery, bell pepper & onion and add to beans along with whole garlic cloves
  • Step 3
  • season with bay leaves, cayenne pepper, thyme, sage, parsley, creole seasoning
  • Step 4
  • stir all ingredients together and set crockpot to high and let cook 7 hours until beans are tender
  • Step 5
  • Add sliced sausage and cook 1 hour
  • Step 6
  • stir together 4 cups water and 2 teaspoons chicken base in with rice, put on high until boiling; reduce heat to simmer and cook 20 minutes
  • Step 7
  • Pour beans over rice and serve. Best with corn bread on the side
