Prepare the ingredients before making Cuban brine in your home. Then, follow these steps below to serve Cuban brine for your family or friends.

Ingredients: Cuban brine

  • 1 cup Sour Orange Juice or 1/2 cup orange juice and 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1 1/2 limes sliced
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 4 clove garlic unpeeled and smashed
  • 1 onion quartered
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp dried mexican oregano
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 tbsp ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 gallon to 2 gallons of water to fill a stock pot 3 quarters full

How to Make Cuban brine

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Cuban brine in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In a large stock pot add all ingredients with water and bring to a boil.
  • Step 2
  • Set aside and allow to cool to room temp. Add ice if needed
  • Step 3
  • Wash turkey, remove giblets, and place it breast side down in a larger stock pot. Pour the brine over the bird, and inside the cavity. Fill with cold water to the top make sure entire bird is submerged.
  • Step 4
  • Cover and and place in fridge for upto two days
  • Step 5
  • When ready, remove the bird, rinse it with water and discard the brine.
  • Step 6
  • Season your turkey and marinate in fridge over night
