Ingredients: Daigaku-Imo Style Sweet Potato Kinpira

  • 1 Japanese sweet potato
  • Note: The ratio is Sake 3: soy sauce 2: sugar 1
  • 30 ml A. Sake
  • 20 ml A. Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp A. Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 1 dash Honey
  • 1 Black sesame seeds

How to Make Daigaku-Imo Style Sweet Potato Kinpira

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 6 steps you must follow to make Daigaku-Imo Style Sweet Potato Kinpira in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Slice the sweet potato about 1 mm thick. Put in a bowl of water to soak for a while. Make the other things to put in a bento box (or for dinner) in the meantime.
  • Step 2
  • Drain the sweet potatoes and pat dry. Heat some sesame oil in a frying pan and stir fry the potato slices.
  • Step 3
  • Add the combined "A" ingredients and continue stir-frying.
  • Step 4
  • When there's no moisture left in the pan, mix in the honey and sesame seeds to finish. Just add a little bit of honey. If you don't have any honey you can add mizu-ame (sweet starch syrup), or nothing at all.
  • Step 5
  • Floury, dense and delcious!
  • Step 6
  • Great in bentos. You can make this in advance, so reserve some you make for dinner for bentos the next day.
