  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 lb hot Italian sausage
  • 1 head cabbage
  • 24 oz salsa
  • 2 tsp minced garlic (more or less)
  • 1 salt, pepper and spices as desired
  • 1 packages Lipton onion soup mix

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Deconstructed Cabbage Rolls (or Cabbage Stew) in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Remove casing on Italian sausage and brown with ground turkey and onion in skillet.
  • Step 2
  • Meanwhile, cut cabbage into pieces and add half to crock pot.
  • Step 3
  • Put half of onion soup mix and salsa on top of cabbage. Add garlic at this time.
  • Step 4
  • Add browned sausage, turkey and onion to crock pot.
  • Step 5
  • Add remainder of cabbage. Then add remainder of onion soup mix and salsa to that.
  • Step 6
  • Slice smoked sausage and add to top of crock pot.
  • Step 7
  • Put lid on crock pot and set to high for 30 min. to 1 hour to bring temp up. Set to low and allow to simmer 3-5 hours or longer to desired doneness of cabbage. I'm a southern boy so I like mine cooked down!
