    Step 1
  • Preheat your oven to 140℃.
  • Step 2
  • Put all ★ ingredients into a heat-proof microwavable container. To dissolve, start with 30 seconds at 500 W and heat for longer if necessary.
  • Step 3
  • Cut the slices of white bread with a heart-shaped cookie cutter. (Mine was about 3 to 3.5 cm in diameter.)
  • Step 4
  • Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake for 8 minutes. Take it out, flip over, and bake for another 8 minutes in the oven.
  • Step 5
  • Take the bread out of the oven. On one side, spread out the mixture from Step 2. You could either brush it on or dip the bread in it.
  • Step 6
  • Return the bread to the oven. My estimation is to bake for 12 minutes at 140℃, but start with 10 minutes and bake for longer if necessary.
  • Step 7
  • They're done when they turn golden brown!
  • Step 8
  • As for the rest of the bread (with heart-shaped holes), chop it up into small bits and repeat steps 4 to 5 (or work simultaneously with the heart-shaped ones) for bite-sized rusks!
