  • 600 grams Thinly sliced beef
  • 1 large Onion (young sweet onion preferred)
  • 1 piece Beef fat (or vegetable oil)
  • 50 ml Red wine
  • 1 tsp Grated ginger
  • 1 bit less than 2 teaspoons Dashi stock granules
  • 1 bit less than 4 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 bit less than 4 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 dash Umami seasoning (optional, to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp Kombu tea
  • 1 cm square Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Vinegar

How to Make Easy Beef Rice Bowl (Gyudon)

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make Easy Beef Rice Bowl (Gyudon) in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Heat up the beef fat, or vegetable (as a substitute), in a frying pan. Stir fry the onion until it's very soft. Add the beef and stir-fry briefly.
  • Step 2
  • Add 300 ml of water and the red wine to the frying pan and bring to a boil. Skim off the scum.
  • Step 3
  • Add all the other ingredients except for the butter and vinegar in the order listed.
  • Step 4
  • When the meat is cooked, add the butter and mix in. Just before you turn the heat off, add the vinegar and mix lightly, and it's done. Top on rice.
  • Step 5
  • Garnish with some beni-shouga red pickled ginger and it's done.
