  • 2 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 1/2 tbsp chili powder
  • Gradually stir in
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp salt

How to Make Enchilada Sauce

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 2 steps you must follow to make Enchilada Sauce in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Stir in flour and chili powder. Reduce heat to medium and cook until lightly browned, stirring constantly to prevent flour from burning.
  • Step 2
  • Gradually stir in tomato sauce, water, cumin, garlic powder, and onion salt. Stir until smooth. Continue cooking over medium heat, approximately ten minutes, or until slightly thickened. Season with salt to taste.
