  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margerine
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 milk chocolate bar (4 1/2 oz)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

How to Make English Toffee

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make English Toffee in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Combine sugar, butter, and water in heavy saucepan. Cook to 300°, or hard crack stage, stirring constantly.
  • Step 2
  • Add vanilla. Pour into buttered 9x9x1 1/2" pan. Cool 5 minutes.
  • Step 3
  • Break chocolate bar in pieces; sprinkle over top. Spread as it melts. Sprinkle with nuts, pressing them lightly into chocolate. Cool; break into pieces.
  • Step 4
  • Makes 24 to 36 pieces.
