  • 4 oz caster sugar
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 6 oz self raising flour

  • 9 oz icing sugar
  • 3 tbsp cold water
  • 1 tbsp sugar strands

How to Make Fairy cakes

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Fairy cakes in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C
  • Step 2
  • Place 20 small baking cases onto two flat baking trays and put to one side for later
  • Step 3
  • In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and margarine with a wooden spoon until light and fluffy
  • Step 4
  • Crack the two eggs into a separate bowl and whisk together. Slowly beat this into the sugar/margarine mixture a little at a time
  • Step 5
  • Fold in the flour
  • Step 6
  • Place a heaped teaspoon of mixture into every baking case
  • Step 7
  • Bake in the oven for 15-20 mins then leave to cool
  • Step 8
  • To make the icing, sieve the icing sugar into a bowl and slowly add the water a little at a time until it becomes a smooth paste
  • Step 9
  • Once the cakes are cool put a little icing on the middle of each cake and sprinkle with sugar strands
