Ingredients: Foccacia

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • for toppings salt, rosemary and 1tbsp extra virgin olive oil

How to Make Foccacia

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 11 steps you must follow to make Foccacia in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • In a large bowl add all the dry ingredients.
  • Step 2
  • Add olive oil and mix well.
  • Step 3
  • Gradually add the warm water to the above mixture and knead well till well combined.
  • Step 4
  • Knead for about 5 minutes and cover and set in a warm place for an hour or until double in size (I place it in a turned off microwave-perfect environment)
  • Step 5
  • Punch the dough once doubled and knead for another minute.
  • Step 6
  • Pat into a greased baking dish and roll out to a desired shape.
  • Step 7
  • Cover and let it rise again for 30-40 mins.
  • Step 8
  • Preheat oven to 190°C /374F .
  • Step 9
  • Make dimples in the dough using the tip of your fingers and brush with olive oil.
  • Step 10
  • Sprinkle with salt and rosemary.
  • Step 11
  • Bake for 12 minutes or bake until golden brown. Serve warm!!
