  • crumble
  • 225 grams whole meal or plain flour
  • 115 grams butter
  • 115 grams soft brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • filling
  • 1 large cooking apples ( or enough fruit to cover bottom of dish)
  • 80 grams caster sugar
  • 1/2 lemon: juice and zest
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon

How to Make Foolproof Crumble

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make Foolproof Crumble in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Make crumble rubbing butter and flour together until they resemble breadcrumbs. Stir in brown sugar and ginger.
  • Step 2
  • Cut apple ( or rhubarb) and place in three or four ramekins or an oven proof dish. Make sure bottom of dish covered by the fruit.
  • Step 3
  • Sprinkle fruit with juice and zest of half a lemon (or orange if preferred) and golden caster sugar and a touch of ground cinnamon if liked
  • Step 4
  • Spread previously prepared crumble on top.
  • Step 5
  • Bake for 25 or 30 minutes at 190C until golden brown. Serve with yogurt, custard, cream....
