  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 6 Vidalia onions thinly sliced

  • 1/2 cup dry sherry
  • 6 cup beef stock
  • 6 slice toasted, thickly sliced and lightly toasted
  • 2 cup Mozzarella cheese to your liking (1-)

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 2 steps you must follow to make French Onion Soup in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Heat butter and oil over medium heat. Add onions, season with salt, pepper and thyme. Cook onions until tender, sweet and caramel colored.
  • Step 2
  • Add sherry, bay leaf and deglaze. Add beef stock, cover and bring to a boil. Arrange ovenproof bowls on a baking sheet. Preheat broiler. Ladle soup into bowls, float toasted bread on soup and cover with mozzarella . Broil until cheese melts and is bubbly and lightly browned.
