  • butter
  • 1 lb softened unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 1/2 cup blackberries
  • French toast
  • 1 loaf crusty bread, baguette, french, sourdough
  • 4 each egg yolks
  • 2 cup half & half
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 each zest of one lemon
  • maple syrup
  • powdered sugar

How to Make French Toast with Berry butter

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make French Toast with Berry butter in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • To make the berry butters: whip 2 stick of softened butter using whisk attachment. Switch to paddle and add either of the berries. Mix on low just long enough till berries just begin to break up but don't become a mess.
  • Step 2
  • Turn mixture onto a strip of plastic wrap and roll into a log shape. Wrap again in foil to contain shape and place in freezer. Repeat with other 2 sticks of butter and other berries.
  • Step 3
  • Note: you can add a bit of powdered sugar to mixture for added sweetness if desired.
  • Step 4
  • For French toast: cut bread into 1/2 inch thick slices. In a dish, mix together egg yolks, half & half, sugar, lemon zest and vanilla. Whisk to combine.
  • Step 5
  • Dip bread slices into mixture, coating both sides, then remove from dish and set aside. Repeat until all bread is coated.
  • Step 6
  • Heat skillet or griddle over medium heat. Sizzle butter in pan when hot. Cook French toast on both sides until golden brown, being careful not to burn.
  • Step 7
  • Slice butter and lay slices on top of toast, drizzle with syrup and sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
