  • 1 lb catfish(4-6 fillets)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal (finely ground)
  • 1/2 cup ap flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1/4 tsp celery salt
  • 1 salt
  • 1 oil for frying

How to Make Fried Catfish

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 7 steps you must follow to make Fried Catfish in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Heat 1/2" oil in cast iron skillet to 350*
  • Step 2
  • Soak fish in milk and vinegar while oil is heating
  • Step 3
  • In medium bowl, combine cornmeal, flour and spices
  • Step 4
  • Remove fish from milk, sprinkle with salt and dredge in flour mixture
  • Step 5
  • Shake off excess breading and lay in oil
  • Step 6
  • Fry for 2-3 minutes (until golden brown); flip and fry another 2-3 mintues
  • Step 7
  • Drain on paper towels
