  • 7 oz flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 16 oz frozen whipped topping (or homemade whipped topping)
  • 2 each 9-inch pastry shells, baked
  • 12 oz caramel ice cream topping
  • Pecan halves for garnish

How to Make Friendship Pie

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 5 steps you must follow to make Friendship Pie in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Melt butter or margarine in a large skillet. Add coconut and pecans and cook until golden, stirring frequently. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Step 2
  • Combine cream cheese and condensed milk, beating at medium speed with electric mixer until smooth. Fold in whipped topping.
  • Step 3
  • Layer 1/4 of cream cheese mixture in pastry shells. Drizzle 1/4 of caramel sauce over each pie. Sprinkle 1/4 coconut mixture evenly over each pie. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
  • Step 4
  • Garnish with pecan halves if desired.
  • Step 5
  • Cover and freeze pies at least 8 hours. Let frozen pies stand at room temperature 5 minutes before slicing.
