  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • German Chocolate Icing
  • 1 Egg
  • 2/3 cup Sugar
  • 2/3 cup Evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 3 1/2 oz Coconut
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Pecans

How to Make German Yellow Cake

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 10 steps you must follow to make German Yellow Cake in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • For the Yellow Cake, Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Step 2
  • Grease and flour 2 - 9" cake pans.
  • Step 3
  • Cream butter and sugar. Add and mix the rest of the ingredients.
  • Step 4
  • Pour batter into cake pans. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Check cake with a toothpick for doneness.
  • Step 5
  • If making a sheet cake, bake for 35-40 minutes.

  • For the German Chocolate Icing.
  • Step 7
  • In saucepan, beat egg slightly. Stir in sugar, evaporated milk, salt, and butter.
  • Step 8
  • Cook over Medium heat, for about 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and bubbly.
  • Step 9
  • Stir in Coconut and Pecans. Cool.
  • Step 10
  • When cake and icing are cooled, frost both layers of cake, on the top. Then, layer.
