Ingredients: Gingerbread Loaf

  • 200 grams caster sugar
  • 250 ml full fat milk
  • 3 tbsp golden syrup
  • 175 grams butter
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 3 tbsp crystallised ginger, optional
  • 250 grams plain flour

How to Make Gingerbread Loaf

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Gingerbread Loaf in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat the oven to 180 c/ gas mark 4.
  • Step 2
  • Grease with butter and then flour approximately a 20 x 10 cm loaf tin.
  • Step 3
  • Then in a saucepan, combine the butter, milk, golden syrup and sugar. Bring to the boil, then remove from the heat and set aside.
  • Step 4
  • Sieve the flour, ground ginger, allspice and bicarbonate of soda in a medium to large bowl.
  • Step 5
  • Stir in the boiled mixture until just about blended.
  • Step 6
  • Then pour the batter into the prepared tin.
  • Step 7
  • Turn the oven down to 160c/ gas mark 2 1/2.
  • Step 8
  • Transfer and bake for approximately 1 hour or until the top loaf springs back when touched.
  • Step 9
  • When done remove from oven and let it cool in the loaf tin.
