  • 3 cup old fashioned or rolled oats
  • 1 cup oat bran
  • 1/4 cup ground flax seed
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup dried blueberries, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, or craisins
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract (I use extra)
  • 1 cup blanched almonds, slivered or chopped
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (I use china or ceylon)

How to Make Grandma's Granola

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 10 steps you must follow to make Grandma's Granola in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 300°.
  • Step 2
  • Combine the oats, bran, flax and almonds in a large bowl.
  • Step 3
  • In a small pot over medium low heat, combine the honey, oil, sugar, water,vanilla,cinnamon and salt, stir often.
  • Step 4
  • After about 5 minutes (when it's bubbly), pour over the oat mix.
  • Step 5
  • Mix well.
  • Step 6
  • Spread on 2 rimmed baking sheets.
  • Step 7
  • Bake for 30 minutes, stirring approximately every 10 minutes.
  • Step 8
  • In the final 10 minutes, stir in the dried fruit.
  • Step 9
  • Let cool and store in an airtight container.
  • Step 10
  • Freezes well.
