  • 1 lb dry great northern beans
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 2 medium carrots
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp beef boullion paste
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 cup water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 salt & pepper to taste

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 9 steps you must follow to make Great Northern Bean Soup (Crockpot) in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Soak beans in water overnight (can do this in the crockpot with it unplugged)
  • Step 2
  • Drain water and pick out bad or split beans.
  • Step 3
  • Chop celery, carrots, garlic, and onion. Add to crockpot along with bay leaves.
  • Step 4
  • Add enough water to cover ingredients. 4 cups worked for me. Can add more if needed.
  • Step 5
  • Add beef bouillon paste (I use better than bouillon beef base), butter, and olive oil.
  • Step 6
  • Cook on high for 6 hours.
  • Step 7
  • Remove bay leaves. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 8
  • Can use immersion blender to puree part of the soup to thicken if preferred.
  • Step 9
