Ingredients: Greek style chicken

  • 12 skinless chicken thighs or drumsticks
  • 1 olive oil
  • 1 white or red onion
  • 4 medium peeled potatoes
  • 1 can cannelini or berlotti beans
  • 3 can chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 salt & pepper
  • 4 bay leaf
  • 1 fresh lemon juice

How to Make Greek style chicken

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 15 steps you must follow to make Greek style chicken in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Set oven to 180 C / 360°F Drizzle a roasting dish or casserole with olive oil
  • Step 2
  • Thinly slice onion & scatter into dish
  • Step 3
  • Cut potatoes into 2 inch chunks and place in dish ( you can parboil for 5-10 minutes if you want)
  • Step 4
  • Arrange chicken in dish.
  • Step 5
  • Drain beans and add to dish along with the oregano, drop bayleaves on top
  • Step 6
  • Spinkle with sugar and seasoning,
  • Step 7
  • Pour tomatoes over everything
  • Step 8
  • Place in oven and cook , uncovered, for approximately 1 hour until chicken and potatoes are cooked through.
  • Step 9
  • Immediately before serving remove & discard bay leaves, give a gentle stir,.
  • Step 10
  • Sprinkle lemon juice over top
  • Step 11
  • Serve with focaccia or other crusty bread to soak up sauce
  • Step 12
  • You can add a chicken boullion cube at step 7 ,for extra flavour
  • Step 13
  • Can also be made with lamb chops or cutlets
  • Step 14
  • You can use tinned potatoes at step 3
  • Step 15
  • You can add a handful of black olives just before serving.
