Ingredients: Grillable Veggie Burger

  • Two 15 oz. cans beans (kidney beans work well, but try others too)
  • 1 cup rolled oats (uncooked)
  • 1 cup cooked brown rice
  • ¼ cup liquid (ketchup, spicy salsa, bbq sauce, pasta sauce, go crazy)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ -1 tsp spices (taco seasoning, Italian seasoning, curry, go crazy again!)
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika OR ¼ t liquid smoke (optional, gives smoky flavor)
  • ½ cup corn (optional but give it a nice chew)

How to Make Grillable Veggie Burger

If you have prepared the ingredients needed, now time to start cooking. There are 3 steps you must follow to make Grillable Veggie Burger in your home by yourself.

    Step 1
  • Drain and rinse the beans. Mash with a potato masher or your hands until no whole beans left but still chunky. Add the rest of the ingredients, mash again until blended.
  • Step 2
  • Form into patties and put in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes to firm up.
  • Step 3
  • They can be baked, pan seared, or grilled about 10 minutes on a side. Turn gently but they will hold together. You can baste with some bbq sauce for more flavor.
